DARING Toowoomba stunt riders risk their lives every time they step into the "Globe of Death".
For Justin Ryan and Sam Fennel it takes precision and perfect timing to get their performance right, as they travel at speeds of up to 80km/h inside a metal structure.
The best friends are known as the Globe of Death stunt riders and have been chosen as the feature act for the Australian Street Entertainment Championships on the Gold Coast.
ASEC has earned the reputation as the country's premier open-air showcase of street entertainers. Professional and amateur acts stop at nothing to elicit smiles, laughs, gasps and applause from the audiences.
More than 300,000 people are expected to visit Surfers Paradise to enjoy the event, with families and holiday-makers set to delight in clowns, conjurers and crowd pleasers as they perform across five locations throughout the precinct.
Starting out as motocross riders when they were young, Mr Ryan and Mr Fennel now travel and perform around the country.
Mr Ryan said it was a dangerous act but the pair had a lot of practice.
"We have been doing the stunts for five years now but have had our own act for three years," he said. "It's great to be able to travel around together doing what we enjoy."
"People say we are crazy but the act always draws a crowd."
The Australian Street Entertainment Championships will be at Cavill Ave on the Gold Coast from Friday, April 14 to Monday, April 17.
