Traditional baby names back in vogue
MADISON Kim Cotter was the first baby to be born at the Emerald Hospital in 2013.
Welcomed into the world on January 4, Madison's parents Matt and Casey Cotter of Emerald were delighted to finally meet their daughter.
"It was fantastic, a wonderful New Year's present," Casey said.
"She was actually six days late."
Madison weighed in at 3600g (7lb 15oz) and is the second child for the local couple and a little sister for two-year-old Bailey.
"Her big brother loves her, even though she has moved in and cries a lot," Casey said with a laugh.
Although Madison didn't get on the 2012 top 10 most popular girls' names list in Queensland, her middle name Kim is very special as it is the name of her late grandmother.
Topping the most popular names lists were Ruby and for boys, Jack.
Other popular names that made it on the list were Charlotte and Amelia for girls; and Cooper and Noah for the boys.
