Triple header to draw a large crowd in Capella
FOR the first time in 20 years a rugby union bonanza will hit central Queensland this Saturday, with Capella locals able to enjoy a jackpot of bruising big hits, quality set plays and endless rucks and mauls.
Bridgeman Park will host the triple header, with the Rolleston Roos taking on the Moranbah Bulls first up at 2pm, then the Blackwater Basilisks and Clermont Bush Pigs do battle at 3.30pm before the home side Capella Cattledogs take on frontrunners Emerald.
The feast of rugby is expected to draw a large crowd and Central Highlands Rugby Union president Eddie Shaw says it is the high standard of rugby that is the drawcard.
"I expect it to be a very successful day. The competition has been really close this year so we should get three great games of rugby," Shaw said.
"The standard has been so high this season it's great, you really can't pick the winners.
"Each team is able to beat anyone on their day and I can't separate all the games.
"All the clubs are really getting behind the concept and bringing team buses. I really think we will get a pretty large turnout."
Part of the idea of getting all six clubs together is that following the games there will be a presentation night.
Awards up for grabs are the best forward and back for under-20s, a best and fairest for the opens, a rookie of the year and volunteer accolades.
