Turn Mondays into 'fundays' to beat office blues
AS MONDAY morning dawns, many nine-to-five workers are waking up to the start of another working week.
Whether it's the effects of a hectic weekend or the prospect of five working days back-to-back, it is hard to deny the existence of "Mondayitis".
Add to the mix Toowoomba's bleak winter weather and it can be hard to shake the start-of-the-week slump.
Toowoomba business woman and the director of Time Made Carolyn Brown has made a business out of being organised and proactive.
Yet even Ms Brown admits to coming down with the occasional bout of Mondayitis.
"I think it's natural for us to have different days and times when our energy and motivation are lacking. This can happen on any day, not just Mondays," Ms Brown said.
"That said, if you're not happy or challenged in your job, it's a no-brainer Mondays are going to be difficult."

For self-confessed procrastinator, Chamber of Commerce president, Dornbusch Partners managing partner (not to mention "busy dad") Andrew Wielandt, it is important not to succumb to the notion of Mondayitis.
"I am the world's biggest procrastinator, but given all the things I have on the go, both professionally and personally, it's important I get my act together," he said.
One of Mr Wielandt's top tips to overcome Mondayitis and procrastination is to embrace technology.
"I'm 'Andrew the Nerd' and I use my various gadgets to be as efficient as possible," he said.
"For work, it's my mobile phone to track emails and calendars.
"It's using cloud computing so I can switch computers seamlessly.
"It's using a 'digital brain' like Evernote or OneNote as it is a lot more reliable than my 'meat brain'!
"For home, it's things like my Apple TV to stream photos of my daughter's first birthday party or my Jawbone UP pedometer which I wear on wrist to make sure I do my 10,000 steps a day."
Mr Wielandt's favourite saying is "take your pain".
"In other words, just get on with it, ignore the self talk and just do it," he said.
If you are happy in your job, then Time Made's Carolyn Brown offers these tips to overcome Mondayitis:
Have a plan for the week. Look at your diary on Sunday night and schedule in what needs to be there, making sure you don't schedule yourself to the point of overwhelm.
Do some exercise first up in the morning. It might be the last thing you feel like doing, but it does help.
If you can't get out of bed - go for a walk at lunchtime.
Schedule some fun into your week. Don't just leave the weekends for all the fun activities; go to the movies, meet up with friends - enjoy life!
Just do it! The sooner you jump into work, the busier you will be and the faster the day will go. Before you know it, it's Tuesday.
