Cold start to the day but twins warm to some hot fashions

WITH Fraser coast residents shivering their way through single-digit temperatures, Maryborough twins Rose and Beth Elmer are revelling in the opportunity to rug up.

The 10-year-old twins say they love the cold weather because it offers a rare opportunity to rock some trendy winter fashions.

They weren't the only ones wrapping up in jumpers and scarves though - with temperatures dropping to seven degrees in Maryborough and 10 degrees in Hervey Bay yesterday morning, a forecaster has warned we should expect more of the same.

Meteorologist Max Gonzalez said the cold temperature across the region will be two to three degrees below the norm.

"Temperatures dropped to 10 degrees yesterday morning in Hervey Bay, which is two degrees below the average for this time of the year," he said.

The cold will not linger long today as the weather is expected to warm up reaching mid-teens.
