Four now charged after bomb hoax in Calamvale

UPDATE: Detectives have charged two more people following investigations into a bomb hoax at an educational facility in Calamvale earlier this week.

It will be alleged a threatening phone call was made to the school around 12.40pm on Wednesday. The school subsequently activated an evacuation plan before police were able to determine the threat to be unsubstantiated.

An 18-year-old man from Labrador and a 19-year-old man from Beaudesert have been charged with one count each of using a carriage service for a hoax threat, falsely stating a bomb was present, and wilful disturbance.

The men are due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Police would like to remind the public that making a bomb threat is a very serious offence and those convicted could face up to five years imprisonment.

SATURDAY: DETECTIVES have charged two people following investigations into a bomb hoax at an educational facility in Calamvale earlier this week.

It will be alleged a threatening phone call was made to the school around 12.40pm on Wednesday. The school subsequently activated an evacuation plan before police were able to determine the threat to be unsubstantiated.

A 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman, both from West End, have been charged with one count each of using a carriage service for a hoax threat, falsely stating a bomb was present and wilful disturbance.

The pair is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing into this matter and other similar matters across Queensland.

Police would like to remind the public that making a bomb threat is a very serious offence and those convicted could face up to five years imprisonment.
