Two CQ mums launch new and ‘exciting’ business venture

TWO Dysart mums have merged their passions and created a new business to serve the community and surrounds.

Melissa Macklin and Bree Day are both photographers that have decided to collaborate and bring something "new and different" to Dysart.

The Studio Dysart will officially open next week, offering everything from baby cake smashes to corporate head shots and everything in between.

"It's a photographer's dream to do this, but it's great to have someone locally who has the same ideas and passions and we can bring it together and supply that service," Ms Macklin said.

The pair is also offering glitter sessions, a fun, sparkly and creative photo shoot for children aged from three to 18.

Their daughters Sienna and Amaya helped with a mini session - every girl's dream.

"We loved it, it was so much fun and we could just make a mess," Sienna said.

Ms Macklin and Ms Day also have plans for other themed sessions in the future including superheroes, milestone birthday shoots, location shoots and maternity shoots.

"We're just trying to cover all areas and if someone has a specific vision, we can work with them to bring it to life," Ms Macklin said.

'I broke down crying': Outpouring of support after diagnosis

The two mums were planning to set up their garages to use as mini studios, when an opportunity came up at a local shop, allowing them to create their very own studio.

"We've had quite a bit of interest from the community, which is great."

Ms Macklin said it was great to see some of the empty buildings being leased out and filled with businesses.

"It's nice to feel the life coming back to town and I think it will be amazing if the community tries to support locals as much as they can so the new and current businesses can stay open."

The Studio Dysart officially opens on August 20, but is currently taking bookings for glitter sessions this weekend. Bookings close 5pm today, August 14.

How CQ woman built million dollar business from lounge room

"We're excited to be able to bring this to Dysart, but were also servicing Isaac region and definitely encourage people from surrounding towns like Middlemount and Tieri to come over."

The studio will be located at the Garden Plaza. For more information visit The Studio Dysart Facebook page.
