Two escape fiery car crash

TWO people are lucky to be alive after their car rolled and was engulfed in flames near Southbrook last night.

A woman sustained serious injuries in the crash that occurred near the intersection of the Gore Hwy and Biddeston-Southbrook Rd at 6.22pm.

The car rolled and ignited and was completely destroyed. It also caused an area of grass to ignite and both were extinguished by fire crews from Toowoomba, Pittsworth and Southbrook.

The woman sustained a severe leg injury believed to have been caused by barbed wire that was caught around her leg. She also sustained a pelvic and head injury.

The male driver had minor injuries. Both were taken to Toowoomba Hospital.

It is unknown if the woman would be transferred to Brisbane for further treatment. Drayton police are investigating.
