Two men charged after armed robbery at Southport

POLICE have charged two men following an armed robbery that occurred yesterday at a residence in Southport.

Four men entered an address on High Street around 10am and police will allege upon returning to his residence, a 29-year-old man was assaulted and robbed.

It will be alleged three men armed with metal bars and one man armed with a knife assaulted the 29-year-old, causing non-life-threatening injuries, before leaving with the resident's wallet and mobile phone.

A 39-year-old New South Wales man and an 18-year-old Southport man have been charged with one count each of armed robbery and assault occasioning bodily harm.

They are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
