Tyres slashed in ‘a mongrel act’
LOCAL people not only woke to cool weather but a chilling act after about 15 cars had their tyres slashed at the weekend.
Blackwater CIB head Detective Sergeant Alan Baker said tyres on vehicles in Lawless, Stower and Kajewski Sts were slashed.
"The wanton, pointless destruction to the vehicles is a mongrel act, to put it mildly. Times are tight enough without people having to buy new tyres. One vehicle had all four tyres slashed and will cost the owner well over $1000 to replace," Sgt Baker said.
"Any person who has any knowledge of the individual responsible for these offences is urged to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or Blackwater CIB."
Sgt Baker said Police had received a description of a male person acting suspiciously in Stower St about 2.30am.
"Police will make every effort to locate this individual and ensure he is placed before the court," he said.
