Unions target marginal seats over Medicare 'Americanisation'

THE union movement has developed a hit list of 22 marginal federal electorates it will target with a campaign against the "Americanisation of Medicare".

Launched well ahead of the election expected in the second half of the year, the campaign will target Coalition seats.

Among the seats in the Australian Council of Trade Unions' sights are Page in NSW and Leichhardt, Herbert, Forde, Longman and Petrie in Queensland.

The campaign will have television and online advertising as well as door-knocking in 22 electorates and "community protests".
