Novice driver flips his car on to footpath

A 20-YEAR-OLD driver, who only became licensed to drive manual vehicles on Thursday, received a surprise just after midday on Friday when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it overturned and came to rest on a bridge's footpath.

Police said it was lucky no-one was walking on the footpath in Springfield Central at the time and that the novice driver was not injured.

Police were helped by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service officers and Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.

Police investigations resulted in the driver being issued a traffic ticket.
