Violent tragedy leaves two orphaned in the Blue Mountains

TWO teenagers have been orphaned following a violent tragedy in the NSW Blue Mountains.

The body of South African doctor Leonie Geldenhuys was discovered by her sons, aged 13 and 18, in their Lithgow home on Tuesday morning.

It appeared she was stabbed to death.

Just hours later, the body of her estranged husband Jakavas Geldenhuys was found at a nearby property.

Detectives were on their way to the second crime scene on Tuesday night.

The boys were being cared for by family.

Post mortems will be carried out this week.
