Virgin flight forced back to Gladstone

A VIRGIN Australia flight from Gladstone to Brisbane was forced to return to Gladstone on Monday night because of a technical issue.

Flight VA1720 had 30 passengers on board, and landed safely at 9.15pm.

The flight was met by emergency services as a standard precautionary measure.

A Virgin Australia spokesperson said the aircraft did not require an escort to a gate.

"The guests were accommodated in Gladstone overnight and will be recovered as a matter of priority this morning," the spokesperson said.

"Virgin Australia sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused."

An earlier Virgin flight was forced to abort its landing in Gladstone on Monday because of strong crosswinds.
