Virgin is Emerald-bound

VIRGIN Australia has announced it will commence twice-daily services to Emerald in the Bowen Basin region of Central Queensland from January 16 next year.

The service, using new 68-seat ATR72 turboprops, will be operated by Skywest and will provide competition to QantasLink in the resources-rich region.

"We're proud to add Emerald to the growing network of regional destinations that Virgin Australia now serves," Virgin Australia's Merren McArthur said.

"Our new services will bring choice and competitive fares for travel to and from this important mining hub."
