Wanted: One rock wallaby on the run

WILDLIFE carer Cara Ryan is calling on residents around Blackwater to help her find nine-month-old Zada, a baby agile rock wallaby, who went missing from Cara’s Hibiscus Cres home in Blackwater yesterday.

Zada is about 30cm tall and grey with black-tipped ears.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, Zada jumped onto a laundry bench and out of a window that was slightly ajar.

A concerned Cara and her partner Anthony Hawkins spent yesterday searching for the missing joey.

“We have visited all of the neighbours and put out flyers,” she said.

“Zada might be alright for a few days because she has started eating grass.

“She is at the stage that she spends all day grazing before hopping back to me for a feed.

“However, there are other dangers such as dogs and cars so I just want to put the word out there to find her, as she still needs care, in order to be successfully released into the wild.”

Cara requested anyone who had spotted Zada in or around Blackwater to get in touch by phoning 4982 6743 or 0417 261 947.

“Zada can move really fast so even if you think you saw a glimpse of her, please get in touch,” she said.
