GEORGE Christensen has had an ugly encounter with protesters in Bowen this morning

The Dawson MP was in Bowen announcing funding for the local showgrounds and aged care services when he stopped by the Bowen Courthouse where 19 Adani protesters were appearing on allegations they trespassed on railways lines and recklessly interfered with operations at Abbot Point.

Mr Christensen posted footage of a confrontation with the group to social media.

"I popped into the Bowen courthouse to see the proceedings today," Mr Christensen posted to Facebook.

"More than 20 extreme greenie activists were in the dock. They decided to ambush me on the way out but I gave them a bit of a lesson in adhering to the law myself."

In the video, the protesters can be heard heckling the Member for Dawson who in turn tells them to 'stop breaking the law'.
