WATCH: Man makes incredible escape from submerged car

A MAN has made an incredible escape from his sinking car after being pushed off Yandina Coolum Rd.

The driver was shaken and lucky to be alive after he says he was pushed off the road by another driver.

He careened into a roadside creek. The other driver did not stop.

With water lapping at the roof, the man had little time to escape.

He told Daily photographer John McCutcheon, who came across the incident, that he was forced to wind down his window and squeeze through a gap to save his life.

He swam through the brown murky water towards the roadside, where a Clayton's Tow truck happened to be travelling past.

Shaken and visibly upset, the man re-told his ordeal before getting picked up by a friend before paramedics could arrive.

Queensland Police Service have reiterated the importance of avoiding flood waters.

More than 40 roads are closed across the Sunshine Coast.
