AUSTRALIA has rung in  2014 with a host of parties and spectacular  fireworks across the nation.

But as we wind down, New Year's celebrations are still gearing up around the rest of the world.

And possibly the biggest New Year's Eve party in the world - at Times Square in New York - is well under way.

The famous dropping of the crystal ball a t midnight New York time, will mark the beginning of 2014 for the city that never sleeps.

The event is being streamed live around the world, including musical performances, celebrity interviews and the iconic ball drop atop the One Times Square building.
