ANDRE Robinson has given new life to a video from the 1979 Gladstone Vintage and Classic Carriage Club's trip to Cape York.

The 12 drivers took their cars, all built between 1920 - 30, in a bid to show that their cars may be old, but they could still withstand unsealed, rugged roads.

A stretch of the road was only recommended for four wheel drives.

The video, narrated by Weekend Magazine, showcased the whole journey the tough times and fun.

"In 1979 my grandparents Fran and Andre Dor and other members of the vintage car club, did a Gladstone to cape York trip. They did the trip in a 1928 dodge and their car was the only car to complete the whole journey," Mr Robinson said.

A video that was taken in 1979 has resurfaced after Andre Robinson converted it to digital.

"I got the original DVD that was copied from the original VHS," he said.

He converted it to a format that was able to publish on the internet.

Now he has shared this 30 year old video on Facebook and Youtube.

Mr Robinson is now working to copy the original diary entries written by his grandmother on a portable type writer.
