Threats to expose brothel clients

THE owner of Toowoomba’s only legal brothel has assured clients their privacy is safe despite threats from a Facebook group to reveal their identities.

The group, called Busted – Toowoomba, claims to have photographs of Deviations’ clients and is willing to release them to approved group members.

Deviations’ owner Jim Welch said he was aware of the Facebook group and its threats.

However, he dismissed the credibility of the group and said it would be an “invasion of privacy” if the identities of Deviations’ clients were made public in such a way.

“If they did post (the photographs) I’d back anyone to take them on (in a court of law),” he said.

“I really think if they did it, they’d get sued to the limit.

“Because of that, I really can’t see (that the group) could go anywhere.”

Mr Welch said measures had been taken at Deviations to protect the privacy of its clients on arrival.

He gave assurances once clients were inside that all interactions were done in anonymity.

Mr Welch admitted, though, that it was impossible to put in place measures out the front of Deviations to guarantee clients were not photographed.

“We are limited in what we can do because of the body corporate laws,” he said.
