Weinstein watch is on: ‘We don’t want another Roman Polanski’

HARVEY Weinstein - on the verge of being arrested over sexual assault allegations - is being monitored for any travel and would be blocked from leaving the country if he tried, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.

"We don't want another Roman Polanski on our hands," one source said.

The NYPD and Manhattan District Attorney's Office has notified Homeland Security to keep a close eye on the disgraced moviemaker - who can still hop on a flight to anywhere within the United States, sources said.

Weinstein - who is accused by actor Paz de la Huerta of raping her twice in Manhattan in 2010 - would be stopped if he tried to make any move to leave US soil, sources said.

If Weinstein bolted from America, authorities fear they might never get their hands on him - much like Polanski has evaded Los Angeles authorities for 40 years.

Polanski left the United States for France in 1977 after he was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl.

He pleaded guilty to statutory rape in a deal that would have kept him out of jail.

But Polanski fled America, fearing an LA judge would reject the plea bargain and send him away.
