Game supporters diverted away

WHEN the CHRL draw is done, why aren’t other Central Highlands functions, which could affect game attendances, taken into account?

Both Crushers and Bluff had home games while the speedway was on in Blackwater.

There is no co-ordination when it comes to draws being made for the year. You could see at both fields the reduction in attendance numbers. Single games do not make the clubs any money.

Why can’t seniors and juniors work together to have a draw where the club/town plays at the same venue? All the clubs love playing at home so let’s combine and have a good day of football at the one venue.

Something should be done now with a small combined committee to work on a draw for 2012. Our under-18s need help to maintain their competition. Too many forfeits are happening in this age group. What can we do to get more teams playing and the interest back for the games?

This weekend the Bob Beard Shield is up for grabs between the Bulls and Bears in Dysart. Each year the two teams play-off for the trophy and Bob’s family comes back for the game – it takes me back to the early days when we played the Bulls in three grades.
