Support rallies for off-leash dog park

WHILE walking a dog every day is an excellent way to keep them fit and healthy, rarely do the furry canines get to run free and socialise with their own kind.

That is why Daniel Rose has come up with the proposal of an off-leash dog park in an area he hoped would be designated by the council in coming months.

“The idea has actually come from a number of my clients,” Daniel, who owns the dog training business Kadan K9 Training, said.

He said providing a park for dogs would reduce dog aggression and promote community spirit.

“The benefits are quite large, a lot of dogs are just stuck in a backyard all day,” he said. “There would of course need to be rules and regulations in the park.”

Daniel said that included picking up after your dog and being a responsible pet owner.

“I’m trying to to get community support from the residents of Emerald,” he said.

“At this point I would have at least 20 clients who have mentioned it and the support of about 30 people on the Facebook page. I’d just like to see the facility for people in Emerald, hopefully the council can go ahead and put one in.”
