THE word is out.

Coolum Beach model Aquila Bergstrom will soon jet off to New York for an interview to become one of the internationally famed Victoria's Secret girls.

The 20-year-old brunette beach beauty met scouts for the world's most glamorous lingerie line at a casting call while working in the Big Apple last year.

Several months later, and some frequent emails coming back and forth, and Aquila will now meet with them to learn whether she will become only the second Australian since Miranda Kerr to be given the "secret" title.

"It's very exciting, but nothing is definite - it's just an interview," she said.

Aquila grew up on the Sunshine Coast but will have dual citizenship because of her mother's United States background.

It will give the aspiring international model, who still works as a sales assistant at surf shop Tigerlily, more options to follow when the work is overseas.

Aquila has worked at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York and has posed for many high profile photographers, including last year's best national photographer finalist Rick Burnett.
