Wild dogs, dingoes savage sheep on Darling Downs

A PACK of wild dogs and dingoes is savaging sheep south-east of Tara.

While dog attacks have been escalating since 2010, sheep farmers near Goranba Ln, Kogan- Condamine Rd and Weitzels Rd have reported activity from the vicious pests in the last fortnight.

Fred Weitzel said he had lost seven sheep in that period, and found fresh paw-prints near his flock on Monday.

Near the prints, he found three ewes with what appeared to be dingo bites, which he believes will kill them despite treatment.

"They will probably die. There's something about dingo bites," he said.

Mr Weitzel said with the help of the Western Downs Regional Council dog-catcher he was able to trap and kill eight of the dogs a fortnight ago.

"I caught one in the act a fortnight ago; he killed one and bit five. Peter got onto the mob next door and he got eight," he said.
