Forget dancing with the stars, this is dancing with your dog
YOU'VE heard of dancing with the stars, but have you ever heard of dancing with your dog?
Bark Busters Home Dog Training behavioural expert Faith Wild had a dream one night and has decided to go with it.
"It's a really different way of communicating with your dog," Mrs Wild said.
"It's obedience with a twist."
Dogs learn a synchronised routine with music over a six-week course.
Bigger dogs will learn to groove to David Bowie's Let's Dance and smaller dogs will get their tails wagging and hips moving to Irish music.
"The dogs instantly hear (Irish music) and recognise it as fun," Mrs Wild said.
She said that after battling cancer and healing herself, she realised how much a dog is a part of healing.
"Dogs can teach us so much and this just makes us realise what they are to us," Mrs Wild said.
"This is to focus more on the fun aspect of having a dog."
To be held at the Cooroy Anglican Church Hall, the six-week program will start in just two weeks.
It costs $175 for the entire course.
All dogs are welcome as long as they are not dog aggressive. Reasonable obedience is preferred but not necessary. Those dogs with natural dancing flair are welcome back after the course for a more advanced routine if they are up to it.
However, no previous dog dancing is necessary and Mrs Wild's new rescue Maltese cross Moses will be demonstrating the moves for other participants.
For a more fun and enjoyable way of hanging out with your dog, why not teach them to dance?
