Wild Macca’s ‘conspiracy’ confirmed

If you've ever eaten Macca's cookies and thought it tastes familiar, but haven't been able to work out why, then keep reading.

One Australian man has uncovered the wild "conspiracy" that exists between fast food giant McDonald's and Aussie biscuit brand Arnott's - and it's blowing people's minds.

Comedian Zach Mander has shared the convincing evidence that the McDonald's cookie and Arnott's Teddy Bear biscuits are the "same biscuit" in a video posted to TikTok that has been viewed more than 170,000 times.

Breaking down the "cookie conspiracy", Mr Mander said he had always noticed the similarities between the two but was now convinced after finding one detail on the McDonald's Cookie packaging.

"At first it was just because they tasted the same, but then on closer inspection Arnott's make the Teddy Bear biscuits but Arnott's also make the McDonald's cookie," he explains in the clip.

Mr Mander has since reached out to Arnott's on Twitter and told them: "I know about the Teddy Bear biscuits."

"I'll let you know if I get a response, otherwise I'm taking it straight to A Current Affair," he ended his video.

But Mr Mander can hold off on phoning Tracy Grimshaw because Arnott's has now confirmed that the recipes are extremely similar.
"It's true, Arnott's proudly make McDonald Land Cookies right here in Australia," a spokeswoman told news.com.au.

"And while the two recipes are actually a tiny bit different, the real question is whether a blind taste testing with a refined enough palate would be able to tell which is which?"

McDonald's also left a cheeky comment on Mr Mander's video acknowledging the similarities between the two sweet treats.

"Grimace just turns up at the office with a truck full of them once a week, we've never really thought to ask where he's getting them from," the fast food giant wrote.

Mr Mander soon had other people invested in the theory with one person describing it as "an ACA episode I'd actually watch".

"I'm in for the long haul on this one," one commented.

"I've known this secret for years," another said.

"They are the same biscuit and I've been saying this my whole life because they're my favourite," one commenter argued.

But others weren't so convinced the two biscuits tasted that similar, arguing they had one key difference.

"Sorry to burst your bubble though, but the Teddy Bears have egg in them and the Macca's cookies don't," one person wrote.
