Will Taylor Swift make this year's Triple J Hottest 100?

IT'S the "world's biggest musical democracy" and in a surprise twist, Triple J listeners are adding Taylor Swift's pop song Shake It Off to their Hottest 100 lists, despite it never getting any air time on the radio station.

Twitter user Joe McKenzie took the issue to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Chief Executive Officer Mark Scott and was met with the perfect reply:

Shake It off was not on the original list of songs listeners can vote for but can be added during the voting process.

When Buzzfeed questioned why the song did not make the shortlist, they were told only songs played on the radio station throughout 2014 appear.

The outrage of not being able to vote for Miss Swift has started a social media movement and hashtag #Tay4Hottest100.

Sportsbet has now also included the hit song in its Triple J Hottest 100 2014 - Number 1 Song odds.

Voting in the poll closes on Sunday.
