COOLUM surfer Julian Wilson has jumped to 11th on the ASP World Title rankings after making it to the semi-finalas of the Hurley Pro at Lower Trestles in California this morning.

Wilson was defeated in controversial circumstances by fellow Aussie and eventual runner-up Owen Wright in the semi-final when he was penalised for interference.

The ruling meant one of Wilson's two scores would be halved, effectively killing off his chances.

He was defeated 14.74 to 10.04 by Wright who went on to lose the final to Kelly Slater.
