Woman brought back to life at highway crash scene dies

A 51-YEAR-OLD New South Wales woman seriously injured in a traffic crash at Beerburrum on January 3 has died in hospital today.

Paramedics spent 50 minutes resuscitating the woman at the crash site last week.

The woman was the driver of a car that flipped off the Bruce Hwy and rolled down an embankment between the north and south lanes.

She was trapped in the car, unconscious and with life-threatening injuries when emergency teams arrived.

Three other passengers, all believed to be from NSW, managed to escape the car.

Jade McGuiness was driving past the crash on his way to work and pulled over to help the people inside.

He said there was nothing anyone could do to help the woman until paramedics arrived.

"It was quite amazing that the firies and ambos were able to bring her back," Mr McGuiness said.

"It was an unbelievable effort. They just kept persisting. Investigations into the single vehicle crash are continuing."

The forensic crash unit is investigating the incident.
