Woman charged for stabbing man in the back

A WOMAN is being charged with wounding a man, after allegedly stabbing him in the back.

At around 8pm police were called to an address on Shoal Point Road in Mackay following reports of an assault.

Police found a 28-year-old man at the scene with a stab wound to his back.   He was taken by ambulance to Mackay Base Hospital in a "non-life threatening condition", according to police.

A woman known to the man was found nearby. She was arrested soon after.

A 27-year-old Shoal Point woman has been charged with one count of wounding - a domestic violence offence.

She is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court today.
