Woman ‘stabbed twin sister to death’
A US woman was arrested and charged with killing her identical twin sister in a New Jersey apartment, police said.
Amanda Ramirez, 27, was charged with aggravated manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of her sister Anna Ramirez at about 5.30am on Saturday (7.30pm AEST) in the Centennial Village Apartments, near Camden, New Jersey, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
Police said they received a call of an unconscious woman at the address and discovered Anna suffering from a stab wound, reports the New York Post.
The twin sister was taken to Cooper University Hospital where she was declared dead less than an hour later.
Her sister, Amanda, was later arrested and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
Prosecutors announced Amanda's arrest on Monday. She is awaiting a pre-trial hearing to determine whether she will be allowed to post bail.
Just hours before her death, a cousin of the Ramirez sisters shared a very brief video showing her sitting on what looks like a front step with the twins and a man in glasses who has his arm around Anna.
All four appear to be in good spirits and stick their tongues out for the camera in the brief video.
On her own Facebook page, Anna shared a photograph showing her with her twin sister, their female cousin and the same man.
"You know the vibe," she wrote in the caption of what would be her last post.
Less than two hours after posting the image, Anna was dead.
A GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral expenses described her death as an "extremely painful and unexpected tragedy", and says Anna "was known and loved by her peers" and that she had a "humble demeanour, kindness and willingness to give with a pure heart".
The beloved nursing assistant was described as a "devoted mother" of three daughters, who leaves behind "a broken hearted mother and a family that adored her".
There are three other sisters in her family apart from the twins.
The family has also asked for donations to pay for Anna's funeral expenses.
"Humbly we are reaching out, asking for help to lay our beloved family member to rest," the family said.
"We ask that if you cannot donate, please share with someone that can. God bless you all and on behalf of her family we send our gratitude."
Her funeral is set to take place on Thursday.
