IN NEWS sure to be greeted by plenty of toothy grins and wagging tails, Ipswich will host the Woofstock festival for dogs.
Ipswich councillor Andrew Antoniolli said he was looking forward to seeing Ipswich dogs and dog lovers experience Woofstock.
Cr Antoniolli said Woofstock had a terrific reputation following events on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Brisbane and Townsville.
“The RSPCA Million Paws Walk had a great turnout in Ipswich at the weekend and I would expect lots of people to come out to enjoy Woofstock,” he said.
“Council decided to support the event which is planned for Sunday, October 16 at Limestone Park.”
He said families and their four-legged friends could enjoy a full day of events at Woofstock which he described as a non-stop doggy party which would run from 9am until 4pm.
“Dave Daly, Director of Woofstock Australia said there would be a variety of the latest in every conceivable doggy indulgence from toys to fashion, food and doggy furnishings as well as entertainment on the main stage,” he said.
“Local traders affected by the recent floods will be offered generous discounts on stall fees.”
Cr Antoniolli said the free Woofstock festival would host competitions and entertainment throughout the day.
“This will be a huge day for dog lovers in Ipswich and I am sure will make a regular date on the city's calendars for years to come,” he said.
Top of Town Pets owner Kerry McCoombes said lots of people were talking about Woofstock at the Million Paws Walk.
“It sounds exciting,” Ms McCoombes said.
“It brings the community together and brings pets together and helps them socialise.”
