WOOLWORTHS customers are outraged by news the supermarket chain will stop their Qantas customer loyalty program in a move that could wipe out millions of unused frequent flyer points.
From next year, Woolworths will issue only its own loyalty dollars for grocery and liquor discounts.
The move came after research found 60 per cent of Everyday Rewards members signed up with Qantas had not redeemed the points in the past year and a third never having claimed their points at all.
Customers have taken to Woolworth's Facebook page to vent their anger.
Starting from 2016, Everyday Rewards customers will receive "Woolworths Dollars" after purchasing items with orange price tickets, earning about 15% of the value of those products on their loyalty card.
According to Monash University's Australian Consumer, Retail and Services Research Unit, the average shopper will save $1.25 for every $100 they now spend.
