A MAN who helped bash Gladstone man Allan Wort to death and dumped his body in a lake has been sentenced to more than seven years jail.

A Brisbane Supreme Court jury took about four hours to find Ross Dylan Hunt, 25, guilty of Mr Wort's manslaughter.

The court heard that Hunt and two other men attacked the 42-year-old, his son and a friend at Caboolture's Centenary Lakes in the early hours of April 4, 2008.

Hunt and his friends knocked Mr Wort's son out, while the Worts' friend ran to find police.

The men then knocked Mr Wort to the ground, repeatedly kicking and punching his head, before dumping him in a nearby lake.

Justice James Douglas sentenced Hunt to seven-and-a-half years jail.
