THE first big cancellation of the summer music circuit has been confirmed - cult indie band Wu Lyf have pulled out of next year's Laneway Festival.

A statement on the band's Facebook page reported the British band, who recorded one of the year's best records with debut Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, had pulled out of all Laneway festivals as well as two sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, Wu Lyf have been forced to cancel their appearance at the Laneway Festival 2012, as well as their Sydney and Melbourne shows this February," it said.

"The band and promoter sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Only refunds for Wu Lyf's sideshows had been offered, and no replacement has so far been announced.

Laneway 2012 will feature Feist, The Horrors, Laura Marling, Pajama Club, SBTRKT, Shayne Carter, Washed Out and Twin Shadow.
