X-rated chilli burns up the comp

AN X-RATED chilli sauce has helped a Coast food producer burn up the opposition at a major NSW food show.

Noosa Chilli's ultra-hot X-Rated Sauce took a bronze medal at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, one of four medals awarded to the Peregian Beach cottage industry.

The business's mustard chutney took out a gold medal while its Jamaican Jerk Rub scored silver and Cajun rub won bronze.

The business, co-owned by Megan Twiname and Matt Gengos, has been operating for six years and is a regular fixture at the Eumundi markets.

It is one of 500 Coast food and beverage businesses involved in the Seasons of the Sun initiative to help members attend food shows, gain publicity and profile and promote the region as a premier destination for sustainable food growth, value-adding and distributing.

Economic development and entrepreneurship portfolio Councillor Lew Brennan said every win such as Noosa Chilli's underlined the message the Sunshine Coast was fast becoming an economic force in food production.
