'Yellow face' Snapchat filter disappears after backlash

SNAPCHAT removed a "yellow face" filter that took the mickey out of Asian people almost as fast as it released it.

The mobile phone application developer came under immense pressure as social media users blasted the company for being "racist'.

Dubbed 'yellow face' by some critics, the filter gave users slanted eyes and distorted their faces into very bad caricatures of  Asian people.

The filter followed in the footsteps of a Bob Marley Snapchat effect that caused wide-spread outrage because it turned people into "black face" and made a mockery of the music legend.

Twitter user Grace asked Sanpchat "wanna tell me why u thought this yellowface was ok??".

Hpic, also a Twitter user, said "... this filter is yellowface and u should take it down."

The filter was taken offline in the past 24 hours. - ARM NEWSDESK
