Young woman stabs Darling Downs man 'multiple times'
A 20-YEAR-old woman from Labrador will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning after allegedly stabbing a Crows Nest man multiple times.
She has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
Yesterday afternoon police established a crime scene at an Ipswich park after the 55-year-old man received stab wounds.
Early investigations suggested a woman stabbed a man multiple times at a park on King Edward Parade.
Witness Phil Skinner from Walloon was in the park for his daughter's fifth birthday party.
"We were busy eating lunch when suddenly we heard shouting going on. We turned around and saw a guy being stabbed in the chest by a woman," he said.
According to Mr Skinner, the man keeled over while attempting to put some distance between himself and his alleged assailant and remained lying on the ground until paramedics and police arrived.
The man was transported to Ipswich Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A woman was arrested shortly after the incident and was assisting police with their inquiries.
Officers could not confirm whether the man and woman were known to each other, nor what sparked the alleged stabbing.
Parts of the park remained closed to the public while the Criminal Investigation Branch conducted their investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact local police or Crime Stoppers.
